Fwd from Art Braufman: Minyan this coming Sunday followed by learning!

Dear Chevre,

We will have a Shacharit minyan at Netivot Shalom at 9:30 AM this coming Sunday preceded  by a pre-minyan learning session from 9 - 9:30 AM with Rabbi Creditor teaching from Rambam's Hilchot Tefillah/Laws of Prayer.  Rambam (Maimonides) wrote "Laws of Jewish Prayer", a volume of his comprehensive Mishnah Torah so communities could study Jewish tradition together.  This preparation for the Minyan, will be based on the original text in the Hebrew with English translation.

Services will be followed by a non-Pesachdic breakfast thanks to Marcia Brooks and Sharon Wynd and at 10:30 AM:

Rabbi Menachem Creditor will discuss "A New High Holidays?  Mythic Days for Moderns"

Jewish tradition is more than a collection of historical moments.  In fact, some of the most significant moments have yet to be communally ritualized.  For both traditional theologians and modern thinkers, the trio of Yom HaSho'ah (Holocaust Memorial Day), Yom HaZikaron (Israeli Veteran's Day), and Yom Ha'Atzma'ut (Israel's Independence Day) represent cataclysmic and modern moments for the Jewish people, redefining Peoplehood, authenticity, and perhaps even the covenant.  During this conversation, Rabbi Creditor will revisit his "Living a Mythic Life" Series in a new way.

Hope to see you on Sunday.

B'Shalom,

Art Braufman
