We Are Afraid
(c) Rabbi Menachem Creditor

We are afraid.
Afraid to be vulnerable,
afraid of being alone.

We should be afraid.
Afraid for a vulnerable world,
afraid of pervasive loneliness.

We don't want to,
even if sometimes
we are supposed to be,
alone.

It is not good
for a person to be alone.

When we stop clicking,
buzzing, avoiding,
we tap back into the whole,
pulse with possibility.

Creation continues through us.

You are an aware emulsifier of the Divine,
throbbing, waiting, acting, despairing,
hoping, raging, weeping, longing, seeking.

We are necessary.
You are necessary.
