Dear Friends,

As you will note from the communication below from the Office of the Prime Minister, we have made good progress, and much of it due to the thousands of people who sent emails. We know that in excess of 20,000 people used the link on our website, and that does not count those who composed their own message and wrote directly. We have heard informally that the Prime Minister's Office received more than 50,000 emails.

But, as they say, it ain't over until the fat lady sings. MK David Rotem has made some very strongly worded statements about getting Prime Minister Netanyahu to back down. He has also said that he will continue to gather votes and will proceed even against the opposition of the Prime Minister. So, don't stop your efforts and don't stop asking others to join with us.

Thank you for all you have done.

Statement by the Office of the Prime Minister

In the weekly cabinet meeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he will oppose the proposed conversion bill as it could cause a split within the Jewish people. The Prime Minister said he will try to reach an agreement to have the proposed bill removed from the Knesset's agenda, but if that endeavor proves unsuccessful, then he will call upon the Likud faction and the factions of the other coalition partners to oppose the bill.
