This week we read of the commandment to blot out the memory of Amalek and to remember Amalek, an enemy who attacked those in the rear of the caravan of Israelite refugees immediately after liberation from Egypt. We, today, are called to be the opposite of Amalek: to support those who are vulnerable and to remember that we all take turns being in the back - it is a core Jewish value to recognize that every human being belongs in the front, treated with dignity and justice, safe, healthy, and whole.

I invite you to join me in supporting UJA-Federation of New York's mission to accomplish this very goal. https://www.ujafedny.org/donate
