By studying David's foibles and successes we can learn how to behave properly in community, how to act towards those we care about, and how to work towards being our highest selves. Each week of this three week class we will examine a different instructive story from the life of King David. But the loudest voices in the conversation are often the least knowledgeable.  What DOES Biblical text say about same-sex relations?  Join us for an in-depth discussion of Biblical texts, in both Hebrew and English, as we challenge the myth of Biblical homophobia.  We'll talk about the meaning the texts can have for us today, including a discussion of why people who are not "religious" should care about the Bible's narratives and ethical guidelines.  No prior experience in Biblical study required.   Unlocking the Siddur: Finding Meaning in the Psalms with CNS Rabbinic Intern Josh Buchin  Tuesdays, July 2, 9, & 23 7:30 to 9pm Class fee: $36 (no one turned away for lack of funds). In this three week class we will explore three psalms that feature prominently in our liturgy, looking at the lessons about mindfulness, kindness, and compassion that these psalms beautifully illustrate. Each week we will look at a different psalm and accompanying texts in order to help us find meaning not only in the siddur, but in our lives. We will focus primarily on Psalms 23, 30 and 147.
