The Pavement Cries

The Pavement Cries
(c) Rabbi Menachem Creditor
in memory of Thurgood

Step, step, step...
No different sound,
No marker to see,
No memorial candles...

But we know
there's blood
on our streets,
crying out.

The blood of little brothers and sisters is crying from the pavement. And, when we walk in their footsteps, we cry for the steps they would have taken.

People walk by as we cry.
It's only pavement to them.
