A Jewish Boy Went to Shul [#poem]

A Jewish Boy Went to Shul
(c) Rabbi Menachem Creditor

A Jewish boy went to shul,
helpless, homeless, hungry,
travelling slowly, state to state,
wondering if anyone would pray with him,
if anyone would pray for him.

He just lay down
inside the threshold of God's home,
unable to even lift a fork of offered food.

Please help me.
Please pray for me.

He was every little boy in shul,
again unable to lift himself up
or feed himself.

What does God's home mean?
