OHDS invites your preschool family....

Kabbalat Shabbat for Preschoolers
This Friday, November 16th and 1:00pm
Get into the spirit of Shabbat as we put together a Shabbat Bag, filled with handmade candlesticks, a clay braided challah, a decorated challah cover and more! The program includes a visit into the Kindergarten classroom as we see how current Kindergartners get ready for Shabbat.  We hope you can join us for this warm and wonderful Kabbalat Shabbat event.
NOTE regarding parking for this Friday:  There is a service road that loops around that entire campus.  Please park along the outer side of the loop, so that the 2pm Berkeley Bus can depart smoothly.  Thank you.

Kindergarten Information Night
Wednesday, January 9th at 7:00pm
Faculty, administration and current parents & students will be on hand to tell you about the OHDS program and answer your questions.

Personal tours of OHDS:
It is important to us that each family have a personal tour of the OHDS campus.  Tours are generally 1.5 - 2 hours.  We will visit and observe classes in session and take the time to answer all of the questions that you have about our school and community.  Please contact the Admissions Office to schedule a time for your tour.  Our doors are always open to you and we welcome you to visit, call and email as much as possible!  We love to hear from you.

"We have not had to give up anything.  My girls receive a strong Jewish education and a strong secular education.  Our girls come home with Jewish songs on their lips.  They know when to sing them and what they mean"

To Kneel [a #Poem]

To Kneel

(c) Rabbi Menachem Creditorfor Landingham & Kaepernick, our angels in the wings
Sometimes, it isn't about nuance.
Sometimes it just comes down to facing the storm,
calling God out,
standing at the center of a whirlwind
holding your ground.

No cathedral is immune to agony,
no soul impervious to life itself no nation purely noble.
If it were any other way,
there would be no need for cathedrals
in the first place.

Kneel,  stand,  sit,  rise up.

To kneel is
to submit  to lower oneself  to step down  to pause.
To kneel is to call attention  to touch the Earth's face to listen to those  whose blood saturates  the very roots of our story.
To kneel is to step aside  to step outside  to invite others to come closer  to remember.
To kneel is not to stand not to stand not to stand idly by.
Speak your truth,
God damn it.

That's what God wants most of all.

Then There Will Be Enough" - A reflection on this week's #Torah Portion. #toldot #life #wisdom
