looking at a precious piece of art,

and understood images and symbols

I never saw.

My student sat for five minutes,

looking at a precious piece of art,

and saw tears in the face,

of the man holding the Torah.

Did I miss the message?

Does closeness confuse?

Do we miss tears 

in each others' faces

when we forget to truly look?
